TD-linc, TD-pico

For many years we did offer a link tracker (TD-linc) and a page counter (TD-pico) for free on this site. They were indeed rather rudimental and did just give you the totals. I did continue to develop these counters. These counters that I did use on my own sites have progressively evolved since and got much more sophisticated, giving daily, monthly and yearly totals. Link counting and page counting have been integrated into one tool, being able to tell the click through rate of a link on a given page.

But, there is a but...
The original counters were not optimized and did consume by far too much server resources. A handful of high traffic users did manage it to bring the server to its limits. So we had to stop the service. (Website owners who publish more than 9000 different pages on their site should not use a service like ours, but deploy their own counters on an adequately sized server...). Yes I know, people are getting more and more crazy and reason is a not an attribute that is equally distributed! If something is free, they feel they must squeeze it dry.

The evolved counters are not yet ready for multi-user usage and time is lacking. I will keep you informed and post here about the availability of the evolved traffic and click through rate counters.
